3rd International Congresson on Transport Research


The contribution of research in developing efficient and applicable solutions to transportation problems

The Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers (H.I.T.E.) and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (H.I.T.)/Centre of Research and Technology Hellas (CE.R.T.H.) organized the “3rd International Conference on Transport Research in Greece: The contribution of research in developing efficient and applicable solutions to transportation problems”.

The objectives of the third ICTR Congress were (a) the presentation of recent research activities in Greece, in the area of transportation and (b) the investigation of current trends and exchange of opinions in subjects related to transportation research, in a national and international level.

The Congress took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, at Thessaloniki International Exhibition and Congress Centre «I. VELLIDIS», 19-20 May 2006.

The event attracted more than 250 participants who further to the very interesting presentations of scientific papers addressing all congress topics, had the opportunity to attend 3 technical visits at the container terminal of the Port of Thessaloniki (THPA) (presentation of the automated management system SEMPO), the Public Transport Organization of Thessaloniki (OASTh) where the vehicle tracking and fleet management system was presented and the Thessaloniki Science Center & Technology Museum where a demonstration of HIT driving simulator took place.
